Dr. Injong Rhee heads the Technology Strategy division as well as the Enterprise R&D division of Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics.
His responsibilities encompass business development, strategic alliances, R&D strategy and development of B2B solutions. Dr. Rhee is currently on leave from North Carolina State University where he is a tenured full professor of Computer Science. He has published over 100 refereed journal and conference papers, primarily on network systems and protocols for the Internet.
He is the celebrated inventor of the BIC, CUBIC TCP congestion control algorithms. Since 2004, these algorithms have been the default TCP congestion control algorithm in the Linux kernel and are currently deployed in all Android devices, and Linux servers and PCs around the world. Several of Dr. Rhee's multimedia streaming and multicast technologies have also been licensed to industry. In 2000, he founded a company to bring VoIP based Push-to-talk technologies to mobile devices. Dr. Rhee received his Ph.D from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1994.
